FRIDAY FROTHIES – BIG SHED BREWING CO. GOLDEN STOUT TIME REVIEW
Golden Gaytime was one of my favourite ice creams growing up, so I could not wait to try this one! With the evenings getting cooler, this is an awesome dessert stout and perfect to warm the insides.
The aroma is instantly inviting. Before you take your first sip you’re taken aback. The smells of toffee, chocolate and honeycomb are incredible. With every subsequent sip it just gets better and better. The scent almost fills the room, so prominent and pronounced are the flavours.
The low carbonation gives it such a smooth and (ice)creamy mouthfeel which is followed by a surprising refreshing crispness.
A slightly bitter bite still comes through (as should be the case in any good stout), but the sweet, sweet flavours of a Golden Gaytime just can’t be missed.
A solid 5.4% ABV.
All in all, an excellent beer worthy of the Golden Gaytime name!
TASTING NOTES
This beer is a tribute to the classic Golden Gaytime ice cream. It is brewed with cacao nuts, rice and specialty grain for that honey aroma then lactose for sweetness. Rich and sweet aromatics of honeycomb, chocolate and caramel without a hint of hops. The body is silky smooth, like a decadent milkshake, and carries a flavoursome mixture of honeycomb, chocolate and caramel.

Big Shed Brewing Co naturally started out in a big shed on a rented property in the Barossa all the way back in 2002 . It has since grown into a successful commercial operation run out of a cool warehouse in Royal Park, South Australia.
