Friday Frothies – Blackman’s Milk Choc Dark Lager Review

Spring is a weird season.

Rainy and cold one day and then hot and sunny the next, it is the crossover from those cold stout nights to those crisp pale ale afternoons. You almost need a beer that combines the refreshing qualities of a lager with the smooth and comforting qualities of a stout.

How about a Dark Lager by Blackman’s Brewing?

Located down in Torquay, a beautiful part of Victoria. Blackman’s have created something special with this beer.

Brewed using dark roasted chocolate malts, lactose and lager yeast, this beer has all those crisp refreshing qualities I was looking for earlier, with that smooth chocolatey mouthfeel that is oh so comforting.

A moderate ABV as well allows this beer to be quite sessionable, which is a word I usually would not use for darker beers.

However do not let the colour of this beer intimidate you. It is by no means a complex drink, if anything it is easy drinking and a great introduction into darker beers. So, I urge you to give it a try.

I find it very fitting that this happened to be the last beer out of my September subscription box, because it really is that hybrid summer/winter beer I was looking for.

Drink Up.
