Loving more and more winter beers being added to the subscription box at the moment.

Down here in Melbourne, the nights have been absolutely freezing and there is nothing more comforting than a darker beer on a cold winter’s night.

But this Colonial Porter is a thing of beauty.

Rich roasted malts combined with cocoa and coffee notes really help this beer hit that wintery spot.

For a dark beer, this sure is easy drinking – with sweeter crystal malts and rolled oats to create a soft smooth, sweeter mouthfeel – with little to almost no bitterness or over powering malty tastes at all.

The balance of all the hops and the malt creates a great introduction for anyone who is a bit hesitant on jumping ship to the darker styles. It really is a great beer for a 6% that ticks all the boxes.
