TASTING NOTES
BrewDog vs Cloudwater is a 6.8% New England IPA, hopped with Mosaic in the whirlpool only. Without any big-hitting additions of hops in the boil, Brewdog carried the flavour by heavily dry-hopping the brew with Citra and Mosaic. Topping out at around 30 IBUs, Brewdog added oats to deliver the trademark smooth mouthfeel – the beer is juicy and tropical, with notes of peach, melon, lime and caramelised pineapple leading into a full-bodied, dry finish. It typifies a style here to stay.
BREWERY SNAPSHOT
Brewdog owners Martin and James were bored of the industrially brewed Lagers and stuffy Ales that dominated the UK beer market. They decided the best way to fix this undesirable predicament was to brew their own. Consequently in April 2007 BrewDog was born. They brewed tiny batches, filled bottles by hand and sold their beers at local markets and out of the back of their beat up old van. Located on a 5.5 acre green field site in Ellon, just North of Aberdeen in Scotland, their state of the art eco brewery is one of the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly breweries in the world.
