TASTING NOTES

The aroma is pleasantly oak driven with soft notes of coconut and mint complimenting the base Saisons’ spicy, yeasty, fruity aromatics perfectly.. Our barrel aged Saison proudly boosts an upfront French oak character that may have been evident in some saisons brewed along the Belgium French border of years gone by.

We selected only French oak for this our first barrel aged saison, due to its distinctive yet subtle delicate spiciness, which compliments and enhances this style of beer. The beer then rested in French oak barriques for six months prior to being blended together and bottled. Our barrel aged saison pours beautifully into a stemmed glass to give a striking deep straw, golden brightness and an opaque white creamy head.

The aroma is pleasantly oak driven with soft notes of coconut and mint complimenting the base Saisons’ spicy, yeasty, fruity aromatics perfectly.

The French oak barriques offer a soft silky vanillin oak undercurrent that complements the spicy, zesty flavours of this beer. Dry and refreshing, this first blend also highlights the elegant mineral flinty notes from the chardonnay wine previously held in the barrels to allow it to finish with a clean, spicy depth.

BREWERY SNAPSHOT

From the brewing expertise of Brad Rogers, Forest for the Trees is an exciting new brewing venture dedicated to farmhouse, sour and wild beer styles.  Travelling to Belgium every year, he visits world-famous breweries and spends time with the brewers that specialise in these iconic beers. Recognising his dedication to these styles of beer, in 2018 he was invited to be a guest at the very exclusive “Blessing of Belgium Beer”. An annual ceremony that dates back to medieval times, it starts on the steps of the Office of Brewers’ House in the Grand Place in Brussels before parading through the streets to the enchanting St Michael Cathedral. The ceremony leads into a weekend-long beer festival in the Grand Place, a tremendous celebration of beer, brewing and the Belgian Brewing Guild that was formed in the 14th century.
