This one started as an idea for Record Store Day. A Black IPA seemed appropriate. Only problem was we didn’t like them very much. Something about the roasted malt bite and the big piney hops didn’t sit so well. So the mission was clear: Come up with a Black IPA recipe that we’d actually want to drink. So we rounded out the roast a bit and concentrated more on the richer, fruitier hops than the pine cones. The end result is a smoother black hop bomb than most, with a bit of xmas cake to it, and a regular favourite for us. Go figure.
We’re the Little Bang Brewing Company, straight from the suburbs of Adelaide. We are Fil and Ryan, and our families. We used to make video games for a living, we were nerds for games. We still are, really, but now we make beer. The Little Bang Brewery is different to most commercial breweries, it’s a mixture of brewing and wine making equipment, and other bits and pieces we either found or invented.

Little Bang don’t use preservatives or filter their beers, and they’re all vegan-friendly. They often find that we get a more complex, more interesting product with less intervention and a bit more time and patience.
