This very first release from Otter Craft Distilling was aged for over two and a half years in a 50L port cask and has already made quite the name for itself with whisk(e)y aficionados around Australia for its quality and youthful complexity. Owner and Distiller, Eduard Otter chose to label his single malt whiskey with an ‘E’ as a way to pay homage to the Irish whiskey scene that started his love for all things spirit based.
Barrel 1 represents not only the first expression of OCD, but it is also the first time that Voyager Malts from the NSW Riverina has had their locally malted barley mashed for distillation and subsequently the first Whiskey released using Voyager malt. The rich powerful flavours are a reflection of small batch mashes, with longer fermentation times, that allow the flavour profiles to develop.
Based in St Peters, NSW, Otter Craft Distilling officially began life in early 2015. Eduard and Julie Otter are brother and sister and are the co-founders of Otter Craft Distilling.
Making Whiskey because he loves it, and driven by a strong desire to learn to make his favourite spirit to drink, years of experimentation began in Eduard’s garage. With a background in hospitality, from behind the bar to running them, including key roles at Pernod Ricard, Eduard began formulating ideas that reflected his strong respect for tradition, provenance and a high level of innovation.

Following on from the triple distillation process used to produce OCD Pure Vodka, the addition of sustainably sourced and traceable cocoa and coffee create the smoothest of liquids, that can be sipped, mixed or made in to a cocktail.
