TASTING NOTES

New Zealand grows more boysen-berries than anywhere else, thanks to people like Glen. The fruit from his farm gives this beer its maroon hue and tart berry flavour, comple-menting the clean, refreshing acid-ity that comes from its kettle- sour-ing at our brewery, with the help of a few million Lactobacillus bacteria.

BREWERY SNAPSHOT

Beginning at the beginning; there were two characters named Matt who were just really into nice beer.After a spell of sampling various craft beer styles together one Wellington summer, the duo became inspired to try and make beer that tasted good; like the ones they were drinking. So it goes; they got to homebrewing out of the basement of their dingy Aro Valley flat and it was surprising – they could produce a fairly drinkable beverage.

With cozy booths, a traditionally-styled bar and a pool table with a view of the brewery, Parrotdog Bar takes its inspiration from the great pubs and taverns of yesteryear. At the heart of the bar, 15 revolving taps showcase our Core Range, Flora, Microflora, L.B Beer and special, one off beers such as the Cuba Dupa XPA. Alongside their beer we serve a selection of ‘New York’ style deli sandwiches that focus on high quality meats, cheeses, breads, pickles and seasonal produce.
