Showcasing the distinctive characteristics of lemongrass and ginger, this kettle sour was conceived over a herbal tea between Jack Cameron (PL Co-founder) and Lewis Maschmedt (Head Quality Brewer). Just as they had envisioned, the end result is vibrant, refreshing and undeniably unique…
Brewed with a simple grain bill of Pale Malt, Wheat and a touch of Carafa III, this kettle sour obtains it’s tartness from lactobacillus – the same healthy bacteria that gives yogurt its zang. Australian Enigma hops lend a delicate bitterness, while whirlpool additions of lemongrass and ginger bring the expression to life.
It’s light hay in colour, with aromatic gifts of fresh ginger, fragrant lemongrass and Thai mint. On the palate, bright carbonation and lactic acidity burst in to action, where spicy ginger and citrus pair with a distinctly herbaceous appeal. The finish is clean and defined, with soft, lingering threads of pepper and lemongrass tisane.
Adelaide deserves to be famous for more than churches and an iced coffee fetish. Sunshine, great food, better wine and famous festivals; it was the obvious choice for Pirate Life. Adelaide might have funny tasting water, but that doesn’t stop them from making a darn good brew.
DID YOU KNOW?
Pirate Life choose cans over bottle because:
1. Cans no longer have that metallic taste, thanks to internal coating. Think of it as a mini keg
2. Cans are more portable and durable
3. They take far less energy to recycle than bottles
4. They chill faster!
